18-07-2003
The time for the building of the Hobart Mosque is now approaching.
The Muslim community is invited to be present for the ground breaking formality on Sunday July 27 at 2 PM at 166 Warwick Street, Insha Allah. It is expected that the Mosque will be in use prior to the forthcoming month of Ramadan beginning in Tasmania about Monday October 27 and ending Wednesday November 26.

11-09-2002
It was expected to have the Mosque completed before Ramadan but time is getting short. The building of the Mosque has now reached the stage of contract tendering once the final costing is fine tuned. Objections from some neighbours to part of the project were amicably resolved by making some alterations to the final project. The costing of many items have increased since the planning stage and help is still sought from those who are willing to help. The donations from the many brothers and sisters was and is much appreciated, their reward is in Allah's way.

A pamphlet is being utilised to provide information and raise awareness for the building of the Mosque.
Insha Allah, when completed, the present Muslims and those yet to be will have a fixed place to celebrate Salat.

10-09-2001
In the aftermath of the 11 of September 2001 events in the USA, there has been both a negative and supportive response to Muslim in Hobart, Tasmania. The positive side has been the wider awareness and curiosity about Islam, the down side has been limited in number and scope, in comparison to other mainland states where the profile of Muslims is higher and Islamophobia in places is considered respectable.

21-10-2000
The Islamic Centre building is no longer used by the Muslim Community. The building is being repaired for commercial use prior to the construction of the Hobart Mosque.

11-09-2000
Long overdue, the plans for the building of the only Mosque in Hobart are now finalised. The Islamic Trust of Tasmania have submitted the plans and have been given the approval by the local government building authorities to begin construction if there are no objections from the neighbours. If finances allow it, the project will be completed in a single stage rather then in three stages which would work out to be more expensive. Some funds by way of donation are being sought from any one who is in a position to help. (See Islamic Centre)
