Activity 2.3
Strand: Space
Name: Making Triangles
For this activity you need four strips of paper 1 cm wide and as long as an A4 piece of paper (30 cm). Your teacher will provide a sheet of coloured paper to cut the strips from.
Cut each strip into three pieces and use the three pieces to make a triangle.
Try and make one triangle as big as possible and one as small as possible.
Glue or sticky tape your triangles to a piece of paper and return them to school so the students can compare the different triangles they have made.
Activity 2.5

Some objects pack with themselves well without taking up a lot of space or leaving gaps. For example match boxes pack together very well but hand mixers are not so good.
Investigate the contents of your kitchen cupboards and look for things that pack together especially well.
Find three packages or objects that fit together (with themselves) very well.
Record them:
Find two that don't pack together well.
Record them:
Return your results to school to help the class investigate which objects pack together and which ones don't.
