parents and children together

Mathematics Parents and Children Together is a package of home mathematics activities combined with teacher support so that schools can involve parents in mathematics education with a minimum of effort.

Maths PACT is based on the idea that students and parents can work at home to collect mathematical information which can be used by teachers in the classroom.

It helps students by taking mathematics out of the classroom into the real word, it helps parents be involved in their children's learning and it helps teachers by enlisting parent support and by providing access to a wide range of mathematics data for use in the classroom.

It is a very simple process. Teachers send home an uncomplicated mathematical activity for parents and students to work on together. Students bring the results back to school and the teacher uses them as part of the normal classroom mathematics.

Teachers are provided with activities and documentation, including sample letters to parents and a feed back form, so they can implement the project with a minimum of extra work.

Maths PACT has been adapted from the very successful IMPACT program developed in the UK. It has been re-designed and completely new activities developed.

Here are some sample activities to try.

Send us an email if you are interested in ordering the maths PACT materials.
