Heirloom Sewing

Many of the dolls have been dressed in clothing using the heirloom sewing technique. One of the most spectacular of these techniques is lace shaping and the various articles displayed below feature this.

Many of the dolls in our collection have been dressed using heirloom techniques. The small dolls opposite have been dressed with patterns from Martha Pullen's Christmas book.

This old Simon and Halbig has a batiste and white cotton dress with diamonds around the bottom.

Solveig's dress is white batiste with hearts around the bottom.The inside of each heart is filled with pintucking. The collar also features a heart.

Wanita is dressed in a Liberty mint green cotton and Swiss cotton insertion and edging lace. The skirt design is taken from a Martha Pullen design.

The nightgown on the right is made from a Martha Pullen pattern.
