To the right and above are photographs of a brick kilns discovered at Variety Bay. All these bricks were made by convicts assigned to William Lawrence, a pilot of the Derwent Estasuary.
The bricks were made in 1846 at the site of the church, pilot station, dwellings and a bakhouse.
