Life ~ Cherish It

28th March 2001
Today my husband and I came home from visiting a cancer specialist, perhaps to say
we came on wings would be more like it.
After radiation treatment for his lungs he was now clear of the cancer.
For the first time in 4 months I have just cried a bucketful - I guess it is needed
but isn't it strange - how when all is well - we seem to let go.
Let me tell, you - it has not been easy and we all have to find our own way of coping.
For me - I had to keep life going for us both, this includes being a bully at times
so he would not sink into depression and feel very sorry for himself.
It would have been very bad to suddenly fuss around him.
You have to be strong and not give in yourself
because this will not help at all.
I would like to share with you a couple of sheets given to us at the hospital.
They helped me tremendously, and I hope they can give hope to others.

DON"T QUIT
When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
And the road you're trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low and debts are high,
And you have to smile, but you want to cry,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is queer with it's twists and turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about.
When he might have won had he stuck it out,
Don't give up though the pace seems slow,
You may succeed with another blow,
Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tint of the clouds in doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far.
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit,
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.
